Destroyer Energy Rifle (Marvel’s The Avengers)
The most notable thing about this Destroyer cosplay prop is easily the amount of time it was prepared in. Aside from a few hours of planning, the whole prop was constructed in 48 hours! I’m always looking for ways to reuse old materials and items to keep the cost of my builds down, so I repurposed an old CS-6 Longshot Nerf gun to suit my needs. Adding 8 AA batteries to the clip, a strip of amber colored LEDs (SuperBrightLEDs.com has a great selection), and a toggle switch was all I needed to get the lighting fully functional. With the help of some transparent neon orange cups the light diffused beautifully through the barrel which is composed of PVC pipe and heat-shaped Kydex. Wood paneling covered by EVA foam was used to made the under-barrel attachment. There’s one more piece I’d like to add near the clip to make this prop a little more authentic, but I was happy to hear it was well received at PAX East!
